The Story Behind Enlightened Breath

Enlightened Breath was created from a simple but powerful realization: sometimes the first step toward feeling better is learning how to work with your own breath.

Rooted in ancient wisdom and informed by modern science, Amy LaHue’s approach makes breathwork and nervous-system education practical, approachable, and relevant to everyday life. Through workshops, workplace programs, and private coaching, she helps students, professionals, and individuals develop tools to navigate stress, build resilience, and reconnect with themselves—one conscious breath at a time.

About Amy

Amy LaHue is a Certified Breathwork Facilitator, RYT-200 Yoga Teacher, and wellness educator based in Columbia, Missouri. Her trauma-informed approach is grounded in training received through both her yoga education and breathwork certification.

For much of her life, Amy has explored well-being through movement. She ran half-marathons, practiced CrossFit and OrangeTheory, and continually returned to yoga. Today, she combines strength training with yoga, breathwork, and meditation—recognizing that lasting well-being requires both strength and softness.

Although yoga consistently helped her feel better physically, mentally, and emotionally, Amy initially struggled to give quieter practices the same value she gave a demanding workout. Exploring the science behind breathing, meditation, and the nervous system gave her permission to trust what ancient wisdom—and her own experience—had already been showing her: the way we breathe can influence how we feel, respond, and move through the world.

After watching students and people close to her struggle with chronic stress and anxiety, Amy recognized how few people understand what is happening within their own nervous systems. That realization became the foundation of Enlightened Breath.

Today, Amy combines breathwork, meditation, mindful movement, and practical nervous-system education to create compassionate, grounded, and beginner-friendly experiences. She emphasizes choice and adaptability while giving people tools they can continue using in everyday life.
